Steel drum festival
Silo trip  Saturday 24 Feb

We had an amazing trip to the steel drum festival at Britomart over looking  the Auckland Harbour.

By 7:30am the uniforms were on and the wairua in the room was buzzing.

The sun was shining the steel drums were playing and the sky was bright blue.

On the bus we were 29 strong ready for action most groups had two to three adults in their groups, thanks whānau!

We had an amazing whānau tautoko, such fun.

We had a beautiful hosts who made us feel so comfortable they set us up and looked after our bags.

Matua Mark and Whaea Ann can stand tall our performance was sweet and beautiful.

One of the audience came up to us and asked me what was the song we sang at the beginning it made her. It was our school pepeha. Tēnā koe Matua Mark he tino ataahua tō mahi!

After our performance we played at the park and some spotted this little water hole and before you knew it everyone was having a wade in the water. Including parents as well.

We had two little swimmers the water was cool and welcomed.

We returned to the festival and watched the drummers and danced for a time until our bus pulled up and it was time to go.

Our shiny limousine pulled up and we were on our way home.

We left with 29 and returned with 22 some remained with their parents and some went home early.

Happy and tired ready for our homes.

Kapa Haka & Pasifika

 Kapa Haka Performance at Arataki

A wonderful sunny day to be at Arataki in the Waitakere Ranges.  Twenty girls and fifteen boys performed with great enthusiasm both inside, and as an encore, outside on the deck.  We were surrounded by families from our school, they were so proud of their children.  Thanks to Mrs Schierning, Tahee, Mark, Anne and Lisa who have worked so hard to make this day happen.
