Welcome to this weeks learning which is on our current story Jack and the Beanstalk.
Listen to the story from last weeks task again. Complete the tasks and email me if you would like to share your learning with me.

Task 1
Write the sentences below in the correct order to tell the story of Jack and the Beanstalk

- At the top of the beanstalk Jack finds a castle where a giant lives.
-Jack sells the cow for magic beans.
-Jack takes gold, a harp and a hen that lays golden eggs.
-The bean grows and Jack climbs up the beanstalk.
-The giant chases Jack. Jack chops down the beanstalk.

We have been reading many different stories of Jack and the Beanstalk.  This weeks activities are about this story.

Find as many rhyming words as you can for each one of these words from the story

Task 2

Draw a picture of a giant.
Use some of these words to write sentences about the giant.

Hope you have all been enjoying being involved in Garden to Table (GTT)
While we are in level 3 we can continue to learn about things in the kitchen and garden. 

Task 1

We need the following items in the kitchen when we bake or cook

Vegetable peeler
Whisk
Colander
Ladle
Spatula
Can opener

Find or draw pictures of each of these items  Label them and write what we use each one for.

Task 2

Use the kitchen items from Activity 1 to complete the sentences

1. You will need to use a _______________ when you need to turn food in the frying pan.
2. We can use a ______________________ to peel potatoes.
3. I'm going to whip some cream.  Where is the _____________ ?
4. We can rinse vegetables or pasta in a __________________.
5. I need to serve the soup so I need a ______________.

Make a homemade Rain Gauge
See if you can follow the instructions  Watch this clip

You may like to record how much rain you collect each day.

You could research other ways of making a rain gauge and try making one. Let me know how you get on.

ANZAC DAY 

Welcome to week 2. At  the end of this week there is a special day that is celebrated in New Zealand. Do you know what it is? Yes, it's ANZAC Day. This week you are going to learn a bit more about ANZAC Day.

You have 3 tasks...

Task 1

Listen to the story below of ANZAC Ted below...

Now you have watched the story see if you can complete the following...

1. Who was the main character in the story?

2. Draw a picture of him and describe what he looks like. You could email me a photo of him if you would like to mnovata@hns.school.nz

3. Make as many words as you can using the letters in 'ANAZAC Ted'. For example, I can make the word 'eat'.

WEEK FOUR ACTIVITIES

MOTHERS DAY
​

This coming weekend is Mothers Day. Mothers Day is celebrated on the second Sunday of May each year. This year it is on Sunday the 10th of May. Mothers Day is a day to show our mothers love and respect and how much we appreciate all they do for us.
Task 1

​1. List the things the family did for their mother on Mothers Day.

2. Write 3 things you could do for your mother.

Try making a few vouchers/coupons as a gift for your mum to use. For example you could make one that says "I'll do the dishes" and she can then use it anytime she likes. Other ideas might be vacuuming, tidying up, washing the car or keeping your room clean. Can you think of any others?
