Outside the Classroom

Our Eco Warriors went to visit the Refuse Centre today.  This visit will help to deepen their knowledge with Reducing, Re-using, & Recycling.  They had an amazing time.  Thank you to the Centre for hosting us today.
Continuing on with what we have learnt in our school pool - we've graduated onto the big stuff!

Takapuna Beach Trip

The juniors went to Takapuna Beach to do a 'Rocky Sea Shore' trip.  This is a part of our study this year on 'Sustainability' we are looking at the rocky sea shore.  We travelled by bus and had parent helpers - see our adventures below.

Stardome Observatory Trip

Rooms 1, 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11 & 12 visited the Stardome Observatory.  Space was our term topic and the children really enjoyed seeing space in 'real life'.

Year 0/1 team are learning to:
  • Say what the sun gives us (light, heat etc)
  • Talk about day and night.
  • Know about shadows - we see them on sunny days where the light isn't.
  • Say names of, a characteristic of, each season.
  • Know Matariki is the Maori new year marked over a month around June.
  • Know Matariki relates to the night sky.

Ngatahi - Waiake Beach Trip

We explored the rock pools and investigated all the life forms we uncovered.  We also learnt about safety in the water.  We made awesome sand sculptures and castles too!

Krypton Factor

On Sunday 20th March, eleven children represented Henderson North School at the annual Henderson Lions Krypton Factor which was held this year at Woodland Park School.  The children had to compete against a number of West Auckland schools in twelve tasks which tested their physical and academic abilities.  We are excited to report that we took third place this year and a great day was had by all.  The children showed great sportsmanship, confidence and determination throughout the whole competition.

The children who participated were Adria, Glaeshia, Roy, Tailah, Tyler, Zephaniah, Suzianne, Azriel, Krystal, Niekol, James and our coach Miss Zahra.  Well done team!
