Please find below the following amazing activities from Auckland Zoo which the children can enjoy.
I am emailing these because we have been studying NZ Birds for the last four weeks. There are enough activities for about 4 weeks below...I recommend you look at completing 3 activities per day in total from all these provided during this isolation period. However do not put pressure on yourselves to 'keep up' as these times can be challenging

The letter/sound for the week is 'Pp' for parrot so brainstorm things starting with this sound - kids can draw & make plus practise writing the letter 'Pp' and simple words starting with 'Pp'.

Count things, make shapes, write a simple family story together.

Play games, backyard sports, cook kai/food together.

In addition to the basic activities for learning I have set for our class, take a look at this fantastic list of 89 awesome activities:

Interaction and engagement is key.

As a back up go to Home learning TV with Suzy Cato.

Please remember to email attendance each day by 1pm.

Feel free to share photos !

In partnership with you,

Zoo Activities
Although we’re currently closed to our community, our skilled and dedicated Zoo whanau of essential workers will be continuing their hard work to ensure that our animals receive the same high levels of care that they always enjoy – just as they did when we were previously in lockdown.
While it’s not possible for you to visit us at present, we’ll be bringing the Zoo to you from the safety of your bubbles – so that we can all stay connected and together continue to share our love for wildlife and wild places. You’ll find heaps of great content at Activities for Kids and Learning at Home Resources and we’ll continue to bring our latest news and activities as they happen.
As part of Regional Facilities Auckland (RFA) Auckland Zoo will stay working closely with RFA and Auckland Council to follow all Ministry of Health guidelines and respond to and implement all measures to help contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
Be kind, stay safe, kia kaha.
Nga mihi nui,
Your Friends at Auckland Zoo

Now it is the start of Term 2 2020...

I am thinking of you all and wishing you all a safe journey during this extraordinary time.

Below is useful daily work for Room 12 students while we are staying at home.

Important activities are highlighted below in purple-:

1. Practise writing letters on paper - upper case and lower case, especially those we have covered to date -
Ss, Aa, Tt, Pp, Nn, Cc, Kk, Ee, Hh. Now add Mm (Week 1)
Uu (Week 2) Ll (Week 3) Ff (Week 4) and Bb (Week 5). Find pictures in magazines or draw things that start with these letters.

2. Make objects beginning with these letters (use lego, blocks, playdough, cardboard).

3. Count forwards and backwards 1 to 20. Mix it up. Ask for the numbers before and after a given number. Add on to a given number.

4. Discuss the properties of many different shapes - how many sides, corners? Make patterns with shapes.

5. Draw or paint a picture about something that is happening in your bubble or on tv. With support write a one sentence story about your picture.

6. Keep a daily diary. This can be in a picture and/or words.      Discuss.

7. Involve children in home tasks - baking, measuring,           cleaning, making beds, looking after pets.

8. Complete a daily act of kindness.

9. Read books, share stories.

10. Express your feelings and listen with care to your     family.
