The weather gets colder everyday! When Autumn comes, the weather calms. The sun is not strong: The days are shorter than before. The nights are getting long. That's why I love Autumn, it's gorgeous!

Kindness Calendar: Think about what makes you special. You might want to write about this.

I hope you stay safe. Hope to see you all soon!

Morena tamariki ma,

Yay, it's FRIDAY! Oh what a fabulous day it is! I hope you are all keeping well.

It's Mother's Day this Sunday! I would like you to impress mum with sweet surprise and make sure her heart is full with a thoughtful message. You can treat her a massage, prepare yummy breakfast, draw her a portrait, hugs and kisses or anything that you could do to show how much you love her. You can also do special things to grandma/nana.

Mother's day project: I won't give you much work today because I want you to spend a moment with mum -- you could sing together, dance, walk to the park, bake, and many others. Do not forget to capture your special moment together. Please send your photos and videos, I would appreciate it very much.

This is all for today. Stay safe.

Lots of love,
Mrs. Sales

Dear mums/grandmas/nanas, aunts,
We appreciate you today and everyday! On this Mother’s Day, I hope the world gets a glimpse of how perfect you are. Thank you for all the amazing things you're doing with your little munchkins. You are valued and celebrated!

How are you? I hope you are all keeping well.

I am impressed by your hard work! Can I just tell you how fabulous you are? Engaging in learning every single day is encouraging and inspiring. Know that you are celebrated and admired. Good job and keep it up!

Today you will be doing journal writing. Remember the 'golden rules' in writing: use capital letter at the beginning of sentence and punctuation mark at the end; use connectives to link one sentence to another.

We are gearing up for Mother's day celebration. I have posted a picture of Mother's day craft. You can make this to show how much you love mum. You can also make one for grandma/nana. Please see the picture below.

Hi everyone. I hope all is well in your bubble.

Please send me an email or text message to send you your personal code. Thanks.

For today's task, log on to the app and click "Activities".
For those who don't have access to the app, just carry on working on the materials sent to you by the Ministry.

For parents/guardians:

Please open the Seesaw Class app on iOS or Android; or go to app.seesaw.me on any computer in Chrome or Firefox browser.
Email me and I will send you your child's personal code. It offers a lot of activities for students, all in one app. - reading, maths, science, oral language, and many more. We can also send messages in the "inbox" .
Thank you for your continuing support. We are all doing this for our children's learning and development despite the circumstance. Please let me know if you need any help regarding your child's at-home learning.

Kia Ora everyone!

I hope all is well in your bubble. Do you see the poppy? It reminds everyone that ANZAC day is around the corner, a day where New Zealand and Australia honour and remember all their people who served and died in  all wars.

What is ANZAC Day? We commemorate ANZAC Day every April 25th, but why is it considered our most important national occasion?

For your task today, please complete the KWL chart s
ince we are remembering the soldiers of ANZAC. Please refer to the video.

This day is best celebrated with good homemade ANZAC biscuits. I have posted a recipe below. Don't forget to share your pictures if you make some.

Make a poppy to pin on your favourite bear and display it in your window to show respect to the brave soldiers. You can make poppy in any medium. The use of the red poppy as a symbol of remembrance derives from the fact that it was the first plant to re-emerge from the churned up soil of soldiers’ graves during the First World War.

Lastly, write an acrostic poem about ANZAC. Please see the template below.

Kindness Calendar: Help in any household chores. #BeKind

And.. Woohoo, our class read 100 books! Check out our  Readerpillar Badge below.🎉 Please keep reading!

That's all for today. Thank you for keeping engaged and doing your job well. Ka pai!

Have a beautiful and relaxing ANZAC day!

Stay safe!

Sending you lots of love,
Mrs. Sales

Thursday

Kia Ora R17,

Hi everyone! How are you? I hope all is well in your bubble!

For today's task on Science, we're going to do an experiment! This project focuses on the importance of washing your hands as many tend to neglect the fact that it is needed! I have posted the copy below and all you need to do is to follow the instructions carefully. You may be needing an adult supervision. Next, you record your observations in a book. You can take photos to document your experiment.

I have posted another set of multiplication problems for follow up activities in Maths. Next step: you may start learning multiplication tables now. You may start from the lowest number and progress each day.

New words: List down 10 words that you have learned from our lessons this week. Make sure you know their meanings and spelling.

Kindness calendar: Go on a walk with an adult family member and wave to at least three people. (this would be your fitness too!). Be kind to everyone!

Do not forget the little things you can do to make your parents proud: Make bed, pick up toys, clothes in hamper, clear plates and have FUN!

Reminder to parents/guardians: Please complete the form that was sent to you, indicating if your child is returning to school or not, to assist us with our preparations.  Please follow the link below by 10:00am this Friday 24th April. (Please disregard this if you have complied already, Thanks)

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfAcrSiKff_wX64OowHhOyu1bwOGyVw8_581V6hzpfBkQKZ3w/viewform?vc=0&c=0&w=1

We are moving to "Seesaw" next week as I find it more accessible to all of you. We can send  messages, make children's portfolio and many interesting activities. I will send the details shortly.
Please let me know if you are needing any help with your children's learning. I am more than glad to assist you. I would like to hear from all of you.

Stay safe!

Lots of love,
Mrs. Sales

20th April
Monday

Dear R17,
Hi!I hope you all are well and had lovely weekend.

Mondays have always been my favourite day of the week. WE  are usually feeling refreshed and recharged after our weekend break and everyone is pumped and rearing to go. So, let's get started!

The weather has been changing and it's getting a little bit colder as it seems. It's Autumn!  It is the time of the year when leaves start to fall. I like the colour of Autumn, it's gorgeous!

For today's activities, I want you to develop your oral language skill. Have a look at the picture below and do the following tasks. Tell your thoughts about it. This would be great if you can take a video and share it to me :)
You can carry on with the other activities I have set online and try to finish them. And, yes the answer for our Maths question; Katie gets her 30th marble on the 16th day which is a Wednesday. Thank you to those who have sent their answers and for those who wanted to try solving it, have a look and give it a go!
You may also want to watch programs on TV1, TV1 +1 and Maori Television between 9:00 am - 3:00 pm daily. Tell me your favourite!

Kindness Calendar: Smile at as many people as you can.

I absolutely love your photos! Please keep sending them.

Stay safe!

Lots of love,
Mrs. Sales

17th April 2020
Friday

Hi R17,

Thank you for your effort in creating fun learning at home with your family. We’re making it work — better than I had believed we could before this adventure began. :)

I have posted some photos of my baking experience - - Filipino bread, we call it "PANDESAL" in our language. I was legitimately beaming with pride after I made them. The recipe was just perfect for my taste.
I had couple of them for my dinner and will have more today on my breakfast with my favourite hazelnut coffee.

For today's task, I want you to spend time with your family and bake your favourite cookies, biscuits, scones, muffins and or other sweets. And, please do not forget to take photos which surely create a lasting fun filled memory.  Baking  is a great experience; you can spend time together with mum or sister/brother and share special moments that will be treasured forever.

Next, write a story of this learning experience or anything that you have done together with your family ( playing, building, planting, biking and many other). I would appreciate if you share your experience with us.

Kindness Calendar: Tell a family member three things you love about her/him.

I would like you to spend more quality time with your family. Keep sending your photos. It makes me happy seeing all your beautiful faces while you are engaged into learning. Ka pai!

Smile, it is still a beautiful world! Keep safe and be well.

Lots of love,
Mrs. Sales

I have set some tasks in Studyladder, if you have any questions, you can contact me either through email or mobile to guide you through.

Kindness calendar: Give out 5 compliments. Let me know how you do this. You can write stories in your diary and I would appreciate if you share them to us.

MATHS:

Problem Solving

This problem mixes several things together. First, you have to realise that Katie has a sequence of 1, 2, 2, … and that that adds up to 1, 3, 5, 7, … on each successive day. You then have to work out when this sequence gets to 11. The final step is to convert that number of days into a day of the week.
All these steps by themselves are not too hard. The difficult thing is to find a way to record all the steps and then put them all together.

Picture
Picture
These photos show how I solved the problem.

Extension to the problem: Now, can you solve when did Katie get her 30th marble? Please share your solution to the problem; or if you have other ways in solving it, I would appreciate if you share it to us.

15 April
Make sure that you keep a learning book/diary and record your work and each day's learning.

Please click the button and read the story: WASH YOUR HANDS

1. Read the book and make a chart to keep track of your healthy habits.

2. Write 5 new words that you have learned from the story and record them in your diary.

Hi R17!
How are you? I  hope you are all well and safe. Nothing cheers me up more than knowing that you are all learning from home with your family. I'm seeing how you are using your creativity with little supplies which is beyond AMAZING. I love how you watch the videos and interpret the lesson in different way. I love receiving all your photos. Please keep sending them and I can't wait to see you.

I want to give a huge THANK YOU to parents /guardians! Thank you for understanding the importance of education and for being flexible while adjusting to this temporary way of learning. We will get through this.

The Big New Zealand Easter Egg Hunt

Picture
Repost: "This is a message for the kids of New Zealand. I’ve been asked by lots of you whether the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny are an essential service (I even got asked in a press conference today!) I have good news, the are! But because we’re all in isolation at the moment, the Easter Bunny might not make it to every house this year (they probably have to look after their own Bunny family too). So just in case, I’m wondering if you’ll help me create an Easter egg hunt for all the children in your neighbourhood? You can draw your own Easter egg, or you can colour in the one that some of my clever friends helped to make. All you have to do is colour it in or decorate it, and pop it in your window for other kids to find. I'd also love to see your designs. If you email them to primeminister@parliament.govt.nz, or share them on social media using the hashtag #NZEggHunt, I'll pop a few of them here and on Facebook over the Easter weekend. Have fun everyone!"

-Jacinda Arden, Prime Minister

Spelling List:

Forwarded Video: Don't light the match, stay at HOME!

Here is another way of looking at the Corona virus.

Our House is Our Home

"I belong in my Family"

The family should provide the first opportunity for children to experience love, belonging and security.
In our Inquiry, we have been learning about sense of belonging. The children have been reflecting on places where they belong. They recognise what this place means to them. They develop their sense of belonging through interaction with others. Last week, they were engaged in an art activity where they demonstrated their creativity. Also, they have practise writing a written response using evidence from the text to support their answers. It turned out to be an awesome handprint painting and writing activity.  They did a phenomenal job following the outline, supporting their opinions and expressing how they love their family.
