Hi everyone, This Year 0/1 page is for everyone. Each teacher will put a couple of activities on for you. This should give you something to talk about with your family and maybe an art activity or 2.
Listen to the story and do lots of talking with your family.

Here is our first story called "Be Kind"
What does being kind mean to you?
How do you show kindness?
How do other people show kindness to you?
Enjoy the story.

What does being kind mean to you?

There were some lovely words in the book.
Talk to your family and think about how you could show the meaning of those words in action.

The best way to show kindness is through your actions.

How could you show:-
being gentle
considerate
patient
sharing
complimenting someone

Let's make a big bubble of kindness

You might like to make a bubble picture with food colouring, dishwashing liquid,  water and a straw.

Bubbles and Dance Fun !

Dance in your biggest space at home as though you are in a travel bubble and imagine... where can it take you?

(for example - under the sea where you can all breathe, to another planet)

Kindly invite someone at home into your travel bubble with you.
Where can you go together?
What do you see on the way?
Who is there when you arrive?
Why are they there too?
How can you explore together?
What do you do?

When you get back from your imaginary adventure draw it and write a short story about it.

Have some more fun dancing anytime with your family, just click on the link below...

Zoo Activities
Although we’re currently closed to our community, our skilled and dedicated Zoo whanau of essential workers will be continuing their hard work to ensure that our animals receive the same high levels of care that they always enjoy – just as they did when we were previously in lockdown.
While it’s not possible for you to visit us at present, we’ll be bringing the Zoo to you from the safety of your bubbles – so that we can all stay connected and together continue to share our love for wildlife and wild places. You’ll find heaps of great content at Activities for Kids and Learning at Home Resources and we’ll continue to bring our latest news and activities as they happen.

Young Ocean Explorers: Live In The Lockdown. The 25min show will broadcast live each weekday on our site  http://www.youngoceanexplorers.com during lockdown.

Hello Rooms 9, 10, 11 and 12, I hope you are all well. Since we have all been looking at shapes this term here is a fun Maths activity for you all to enjoy. Remember to take pictures of your completed work and send to your teachers. Listen to the story 'The drawing game'. Think about all the shapes that you can see in your house. After watching the video create pictures using shapes and colour them in. Talk to an adult and tell them what shapes you have used to create your pictures. If you are from Room 10 or 11, you can do this activity on our SeeSaw home learning page.
Complete the patterns by drawing the missing shapes, remember to colour them the right colours.

You can be a weather reporter!

Each day when we are in class, we talk about the days of the week and the weather.

Here you can draw up your own personalised home weather chart.

You can even design your own icons or research those used by others.

Picture

Each day you can compare your report to that on TV and see if the weather you recorded is the same as the TV weather shows for Auckland.

When you have finished checking the weather for 7 days, you can check to see how many days were sunny, cloudy, windy, etc.

You can see what the weather was mostly like and not - was it mostly sunny?

Have fun and share a photo of your chart with your teacher via email.

Have you ever thought about writing in a shape. It looks like a lot of fun. Have a look at these ideas. Start with a shape and think of words or sentences to go inside it or around the edge. You might need a little help from a grown up with this.
Take a picture and email it to your teacher.

Save the Home Learning Treasures

You've been busy at home - plenty of free choice time, outdoors time, play-time, creative time, time to help out at home, and learning activities time. A whole store of drawings, photos, creations and various items, they all making for memories of learning at home.

Have you thought of how you can keep these treasures together safe for your return to school AND as keepsakes for the years ahead!

Maybe you have a special box at home for them or maybe a big envelope to keep them safe. Perhaps you have decorated your treasure container, written your name on it and included the all important year 2020.

This bag has the word MEMENTO on it. Can you guess what this might mean?

If you have spare boxes and bags at home, what else might you make?
Your teachers would love to see any ideas that you have.

Rooms 9,10,11, and 12 were hoping to go to the Auckland Museum to look at what New Zealand looked like when the Maori people were here on their own.  We have been reading "The Boy and the Taniwha" We wanted to look at how New Zealand changed when European people arrived.
Lucky for us the Museum has put some cool stuff on line.
Check it out here.

Listen to  the story "Timo and the Kingfish"
This story is in 2 parts as I ran out of room on my phone. It is a good story so have a listen.

Here are the maori songs we have been learning with Pa!

Here is the National anthem. This is the closest one I could find to the sign language we use in our assemblies.

Here are two more  maori songs we do with Pa.

Have a go at this one. I think you will know most of  it from preschool or Kindy.

It is quite hard to give you reading to do at home. I found these worksheets. You will not be able to type the answers but you can write or talk about the answers with the person who is helping you.

Hello everyone, I hope you all had a great weekend. Here are some fun activities for this week. Remember if you are from room 10 or 11 you can do these activities on SeeSaw.

Sometimes we need different things to fill our hearts and make us feel happy. Think about what you need to make you feel happy, draw a big heart shape and draw things that fill your heart. Discuss your heart map with an adult in your house and tell them what you have drawn and why it makes you feel happy.

The amazing author, Mo Willems, is hosting drawing sessions through the Kennedy Center and wants to doodle with you! 1. Grab paper and a pencil and doodle with Mo. Be silly and have fun! 2. Go to: https://www.kennedy-center.org/education/mo-willems/ and select an episode to watch. (Make sure you have an adult family member's permission.)
Listen to the growth mindset video "A Secret About the Brain". Write one sentences explaining why you think Mojo can or cannot get smarter. Use evidence from the video you just watched!
