Hi Parents and Caregivers

I hope you had a good two week break from schoolwork and managed to go somewhere nice and relaxing on a day trip. We managed to get to Orewa where we had a lovely lunch in the sun by the beach and, later, an ice cream. Felt so normal!

For parents wanting to get onto our learning site – Seesaw – here is a new code as the old one may have expired.

The new code for Seesaw is JOMF LMKL.

Do some learning each day and make it fun, interesting and part of your routine, while still enjoying the time with your family.

Mr Niz

If you need to contact me, please email inisbet@hns.school.nz. I mark the class roll each day and your child is marked present if I have had some kind of contact with them via email or by working on Seesaw.

Hope to see you when school goes back.

Hi Parents and Caregivers

I am putting information and website links on this page that you can access to help your child with home learning during the lockdown. It’s very important to do some learning each day and make it fun, interesting and part of your routine, while still enjoying the time with your family.

If you need to contact me, please email inisbet@hns.school.nz. If you email me each day, I can mark the class roll.

Reading

Recently Henderson North was granted access to a new student reading site online called Myon.

When you go there, each student has their own login.  The user name is HendersonNorth

I have already contacted you about your child’s password, but if you need it again, please email me.

On the site, click on “Library” and then “Browse”. There are a LOT of books to choose from. Once you have chosen a book, If you click on “info” it will tell you the recommended year level for the book. However, after you have clicked on “Star” to start the book, you can then click the microphone icon to have the book read to you. If you don’t want the book read to you, just click on the right and left arrows to move through the book.

Hope you enjoy reading some cool new books. Let me know how you get on.

Maths

Other things you can do is go for a walk and practise left/right, quarter/half turn left and right directions as we have been doing in class. Another thing is do some baking and practice cutting into halves or quarters which we have been doing at school.
Writing
Do some writing like a diary of what you do each day. Bring your writing and pictures back to school when the lockdown is over to share with the rest of the class. You could also write a story for the writing competition that the school library is running (with prizes!).

Here are the words we have been learning recently.
Remember the competition we are having in class for the students who make the biggest improvement in how many words, letters and sounds they know.

Maths and English activities

There are some cool maths and English games on this site https://ictgames.com/ and they are all free.
Seesaw Learning
I have put quite a few learning activities on the Seesaw website for you to do. I check it many times a day so if you have done something, I will see it and comment on it too.

Use the login information I sent in the email yesterday.

Have fun! Enjoy your days. See you soon. :>

Best wishes….Mr Niz
